Just Plain Sounds

DOOM. Four letters together that encompass a monumental hip-hop figure. Prolific lyricist. Skilled beat crafter. A myth and enigma. A legend, in all senses of the word. An artist who has spanned decades of Hip-Hop culture, with music at the forefront of it all.

The artists at Just Plain Sounds would like to present a project we have been working on for the better part of this year. JPS Everyman J Dangle had a wonderful idea in which we took what we felt were the illest emcees in RVA, and paired them on the MF DOOM instrumental of their liking. Sometimes raw and aggressive, at other moments, laid-back and reflective; this project spans the full spectrum of what we consider great hip-hop music.

The project is titled WEEKENDS IN LATVERIA. The beats are all produced by MF DOOM, with a few surprises as well. The lyrics are all RVA. The feeling is all authentic. We want you (yea, you!) to absorb this music. Treat the first listen like an adventure through uncharted territory. Soak in the textures. Feel the emotions that the music invokes in us all. We’d like to welcome you to Latveria. Allow JPS to be your guide.
